SYNOPSIS
Xóchitl, an astrophobic Chicana-Chinese technosignature researcher based in the Bay Area loses her job when she stands up to the corporatization and colonization of her field by Nolan, a billionaire technocrat, and is left wondering if her life’s work has any meaning. All this, as her Colombian partner, Andrés, leaves to one of the Scandinavian Sounds to report on the aurora borealis which has been presenting some fluctuations never seen before in the history of recording its light patterns. With distance and perhaps another species between them, Xóchitl and Andrés’s marriage is tested in a way they never expected.
Cuentero created the story and concept and provided writing, creative and voice direction, audio editing, audio production, casting, scoring, sound design, sound engineering, and sound mixing services.
